Each registered domain has no less than two Name Server records which show where it is hosted i.e. by using these records you point your domain name to the servers of a particular web hosting provider. This way, you've got both your site and your e-mails managed by the same provider. On the lower level of the Domain Name System (DNS), nevertheless, there is a variety of other records, for example A and MX. The former shows which server manages the website for a given Internet domain and is always an IP address (123.123.123.123), while the second one reveals which server deals with the e-mails and is always an alphanumeric string (mx1.domain.com). For example, when you type a domain address in your browser, your request is directed through the global DNS system to the company whose NS records the domain uses and from there you will be forwarded to the servers of another service provider in case you have set an IP address of the latter as an A record for your Internet domain. Having separate records for the website and the e-mails means you may have your website and your emails with 2 different companies if you wish.

Custom MX and A Records in Web Hosting

If you have a Linux web hosting service through us, you will be able to see, create and modify any A or MX record for your domain names. So long as a given domain name has our Name Servers, you are going to be able to to modify particular records by using our Hepsia hosting CP and have your site or emails pointed to any other company if you would like to use only one of our services. Our innovative tool will even enable you to have a domain name hosted here and a subdomain below it to be hosted elsewhere by modifying only its A record - this will not affect the main domain name at all. If you want to use the email services of another service provider and they want you to set up more than two MX records, you can easily do that with simply a few clicks within the DNS Records section of your CP. You can also set different latency for every single MX record i.e. which one will have priority.

Custom MX and A Records in Semi-dedicated Servers

With the semi-dedicated service that we provide, you're going to have 100 % control over the records of all domains and subdomains you add in your hosting account. You can easily check what A and MX records each of them has using the DNS Records section of the Hepsia hosting Control Panel and modifying any record requires simply a couple of clicks. If you decide to change your web or email hosting provider, you can update the required record and direct your domain address to the other service provider for one of the services, while you still continue using the other one through us. Also you can keep the main domain address here, while you modify the A record of only one of its subdomains. If you are editing the MX records and you need additional ones on top of the standard two that we have, you could create them with ease and set a different priority for every one.
