The NS (Name Server) records of a domain reveal which DNS servers are authoritative for its zone. In simple terms, the zone is the range of all records for the domain, so when you open a URL within a web browser, your laptop or computer asks the DNS servers worldwide where the domain name is hosted and from which servers the DNS records for the domain should be retrieved. This way a web browser finds out what the A or AAAA record of the domain address is so that the latter is mapped to an IP address and the web site content is required from the proper location, a mail relay server finds out which server takes care of the e-mails for the domain (MX record) to ensure a message can be delivered to the right mailbox, and so forth. Any change of these sub-records is conducted through the company whose name servers are used, so that you can keep the web hosting and switch only your email provider for example. Every single domain address has at least 2 NS records - primary and secondary, that start with a prefix like NS or DNS.

NS Records in Web Hosting

The avant-garde Hepsia Control Panel, which comes with our web hosting products, will allow you to take care of the name servers of each and every domain registered through us with only a few mouse clicks, so even if you have never had a website hosting plan or a domain before, you'll not encounter any problems. The Domain Manager tool, which is a part of Hepsia, features a very user-friendly interface and it'll enable you to change the NS records of any domain address or even a number of domain addresses all at once. In addition we give you the ability to create child name servers dns1.your-domain.com and dns2.your-domain.com for every domain registered within the account just as easily and all you need for that is a couple of IPs - either ours, if you're going to use the child NS to forward the domain address to the account on our cloud platform, or the ones of the third-party company if you'll use the new records to redirect the domain to their system. In contrast to other companies, we do not charge extra for providing this additional DNS management service.

NS Records in Semi-dedicated Servers

If you register a new domain name in a semi-dedicated server account or transfer an existing one from another registrar provider, you're going to be able to update its NS records as required without any problems even if you haven't had a domain name of your own before. The process takes a couple of mouse clicks in Hepsia - the user-friendly control tool, included with our semi-dedicated packages. If you have multiple domains inside the account, you're going to be able to update all of them simultaneously, which can save you a great deal of time and clicks. You can also see with ease the name servers that a domain name uses and if they're the correct ones or not for the domain address to be pointed to the account that you have got on our sophisticated cloud hosting platform. Hepsia will also permit you to create private name servers under any domain name registered within the account and use them not only for that domain address, but also for any other one that you would like to direct to our cloud platform.
